Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Planners tables.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
